Wynne Watts School is a part of the Social-Emotional Skills Program (SESP) operated by Multnomah Education Service District (MESD). Wynne Watts School provides service to students with severe emotional behavioral disorders. Most students have been found eligible to receive special education services under one or more disability categories. Students at Wynne Watts School are enrolled in multi-grade, self-contained classrooms and grouped by their academic progression and achievement. Teachers provide instruction in all core subjects traditionally taught in Oregon schools. Students are also placed in specific therapeutic groups based on their mental health issues and challenges which prevent them from being placed in a less restrictive educational setting.

Located in northeast Portland on the Albertina Kerr campus, Wynne Watts School is considered a Long-Term Care and Treatment (LTCT) placement on the continuum of placement options as defined in the Oregon Administrative Rules and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments (IDEA 2001) for providing a free, appropriate public education (FAPE) for students who meet eligibility criteria for special education services. MESD provides the supervision of the school staff. Albertina Kerr provides for the therapeutic and living supervision staff. Other districts (and the state) may contract for services as space is available.

Approximately 40 students are served in the program. Our building is open from 8:30 to 4 p.m. Class times vary by room assignment. Check with the student's teacher for specific start and end times.
