  • All Born In 2016 Cross Disability Inclusion Conference

    Location: Airport Holiday Inn, Portland, OR
    One of the largest cross disability education conferences in the state with lots of local, state and national policy folks who are invested in creating rich opportunities that will support all of Oregons children.  Teachers who attend the conference are able to receive clock hours in Oregon and Washington. We are also partner with Concordia University where folks can apply for a graduate level credit at a reduced cost. The conference brings over 525 participants half being teachers and professionals and half parents and self advocates coming to lean about best practices and cutting edge educational opportunities.

    Keith Jones and youtube video . He is artist, father, musician and a man who experiences disability and addresses the intersection of race and disability.  Keith Jones is the President and CEO of SoulTouchin’ Experiences. An organization aimed at bringing a perspective to the issues of access inclusion and empowerment, which affect him as well as others who are persons with a disability. Mr. Jones is also extremely active in multi-cultural, cross-disability education and outreach efforts and, conducts trainings (including train the trainer) with the purpose of strengthening efforts to ``provide services and information to people with disabilities

     Dr. Richard A. Villa has worked with thousands of teachers and administrators throughout North America and the world, to develop and implement organizational and instructional support systems for educating all students within general education settings.  Dr. Rich Villa is a well respected national and international speaker who  presents on co-teaching, differentiated Instruction and all the nuts and bolts that schools need to be inclusive. He has authored over a hundred articles and book chapters regarding inclusive education, differentiated instruction, collaborative planning and teaching, and school restructuring. Dr. Villa has co-edited twelve books and developed three multimedia kits for teachers, administrators, and parents. Rich possesses the conceptual, technical, and interpersonal skills required to work effectively with others and facilitate change and progress in education. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences,
     and is known for his enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and humorous style of presenting.

    There will be over 35 sessions focusing on age birth - 25 around literacy, Assistive technology, behavior supports, transition, Co teaching and differentiation, Post secondary options and Think College Oregon plus more.

    Registration is $77.50 per person, and can be made at OSBA has a very limited number of free registrations available to members. Please contact Jane Leonhardt at if you would like to be considered. 
    The “Teaching With Purpose Leadership Institute” is being planned for
    March 2, 2016 at Concordia University in Portland. The institute is designed to “facilitate leadership development to implement culturally responsive practices and help districts align policy with equity laws.” The keynote speaker is Tim Wise, an author and speaker on race relations; special guests include state Sen. Arnie Roblan, D-Coos Bay, chairman of the Oregon Senate Education Committee; and Salam Noor, Oregon’s deputy superintendent of public instruction.
