Data:
- 32 students had 1:1 nursing care over 38,423 hours provided by 25 RN’s, 6 LPNs and 8 substitute nurses.
- 2 RNs in Multnomah County Early Intervention/Early Childhood (EI/ECSE) programs provided direct nursing care to 278 students.
- 1.5 FTE RNs in Clackamas County EI/ECSE programs provided direct nursing care to 130 students.
- 2 LPNs in Functional Living Skills classrooms provided nursing support to students attending Pathways Community School and the Harold Oliver Intermediate classroom.
- LPNs contracted by CESD LEEP classrooms provided direct nursing care to students with special health needs who attend one of 18 classrooms across Clackamas County.
- 1 LPN in Portland Life Skills with nursing classrooms provided direct nursing care to students with special health needs attending one of the life skills with nursing classrooms in the Portland Public School System.
- 2 Clackamas ESD special education RN’s provided nursing services to 133 students in the LEEP Program
- 2 RNs in Portland Lifeskills with nursing classrooms provided nursing services to 73 students.
- 5.5 special needs nurses provided 851 hours for children with chronic and/or special health needs. They were responsible for ongoing management of safety and healthcare needs for 276 students and provided consultation and support to 10 school districts, the CESD LEEP program, and EI/ECSE for Multnomah and Clackamas counties.
Service Outcomes:
- Utilized statewide by other districts and ESDs as consultants for program development and/or delivery.
- Formed partnerships with county and state child mental health workers and school nurses to support students with high levels of mental health needs in Multnomah and Clackamas Counties.
- Children with special health needs in Multnomah and Clackamas Counties were able to benefit from a safe educational experience.
- As members of the related services IEP team, MESD nurses helped to ensure that districts meet their educational and legal mandates in the provision of educational services to students.
