Doernbecher Hematology/Oncology
The hospital school program on the 10th floor of Doernbecher Children's Hospital provides educational services to students in kindergarten through high school. The school staff provides small group, individualized and bedside instruction depending on the medical and academic needs of the student. The hospital school staff acts as a resource for educational information specific to the needs of our student population for home school districts and families.
If students bring homework, assistance will be provided with those assignments. If needed, contact will be made with the child's home school to coordinate assignments. Students can receive credit in their local schools for work completed in the hospital. In addition, educational activities are available from the school staff such as theme based materials, art projects, problem solving games and puzzles. All patient rooms on the 10th floor are equipped with computers. The school program has a wide variety of educational software to meet the individual needs of each student.
