
Incarcerated Youth
Serving Portland Public Schools, Parkrose School District, Reynolds School District. Located within the following Multnomah County Adult Jails:
* Multnomah County Detention Center - Justice Center
* Multnomah County Inverness Jail
* Multnomah County Correctional Facility - Work Release Building
Services Provided
* Determination and provision of appropriate educational service to eligible youth
* Opportunity to earn credits toward graduation
* Documentation of student performance and credits earned
* Instruction in basic skills and core content areas
* Curriculum adjustment necessary to meet the needs of students with barying lengths of stay
* Special Education Services
* Review and update of IEP's
* Instruction in workplace readiness skills and independent living skills
* Development of social skills
* Preparation of exit data to follow youth when appropriate
* Transition services to local school programs upon release
Youth Served
* School age up to 19 years of age without diploma and/or disabled up to 21 years of age who have had IEP's
* Detained in adult county jails located within school district boundaries
* Facing personal issues which include mental illness, personality disorderes, alcohol and drug problems, brain damage, and post traumatic stress disorder
* Special education identified and/or credit deficient

Students will:
* understand and demonstrate all skills taught
* recognize errors and acknowledge them
* demonstarte good work efforts
* work with others to reach a common goal
* participate in the program in as many ways as they are able
* work on weekly reading and writing goals, and vocabulary acquisition
* work at his/her own pace on skills acquisition
* attempt all subject areas at his/her own rate
