Arata Creek School Room 106 |
Welcome to Room 106
Your teachers are Ms.Rohrbacher, Mrs. Kelly, and Ms. Johnson
We are sorting trash for our waste audit, a step towards Green School Certification.
First, we collect the trash bins from the classrooms and the staff lounge.
Trash is sorted into four piles: items that could be recycled, reused, composted, or is trash.
Piles are then weighed and students input data into a spreadsheet. Students will then graph the data and present the information to the school.
This is a multi-year project; the data collection will be tracked in a database to compare each new years' numbers.
We hope to begin composting some of the items that are currently going into the trash and educate staff and students on the waste that is produced in our school as well as responsible ways of disposing of waste items.
Room 106 extends sincere thanks to Alpaca Gold Organics for supplying two pounds of red wriggler worms to be used in compost bins at the school.
