  • Get Hydrated! MESD's Hydration Challenge: March, 2017

    Did You Know, dehydration occurs when you don’t have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild hydration can: Drain your energy; Make you tired; Dry out your skin; Cause headaches; and cause dizziness or make you feel "foggy"? MESD Employee Wellness has just the Challenge to fix that!

    About the Challenge:  This three week challenge is designed to encourage you to increase your daily consumption of water. Not all experts agree on what, precisely, is the amount of water one needs to drink every day to maintain a healthy level of hydration. However, the general recommendation  is the 8×8 rule: an eight-ounce glass of water, 8 times a day.

    During the Hydration Challenge the goal is to drink eight glasses of water per day. Although other beverages such as soda, coffee, and juice contribute toward your daily liquid intake, the challenge is geared solely toward increased consumption of water. In other words, only water counts for this challenge.

    How the Challenge Works
    Drink eight or more eight-ounce glasses of water per day. At home or at work. Track your consumption using your tracking sheet. (attached). When you log the number of glasses of water consumed daily from March 1-22nd and submit your completed worksheet, your name will be entered into a draw to win one of two fantastic prizes. Remember: only water counts! (And please remember to keep the environment in mind while participating in this challenge, and drink from reusable water bottles and cups whenever possible!)
    First, register by adding your name to the Hydration Challenge google spreadsheet and include how many glasses or ounces of water you currently drink per day: Hydration Challenge Registration.  Next, download and print the Hydration Challenge Worksheet.  Then start hydrating!
    Record the number of eight-ounce glasses of water every day: 8 oz. = 1 cup. On March 22nd, total the number of 8-ounce glasses of water consumed during the month. Turn in your Hydration Challenge Tracking Sheet by end of day March 24th in one of the following ways:
    • Drop in the Pony, attn: Leanne Mixa Bettin, Technology Services
    • Scan and email a copy to
    • Take a photo of your completed sheet and email it to
    • Fax your sheet attn: Leanne Mixa Bettin to 503.257.1538
    • Put it in the Technology Services bucket in the mailroom, attn: Leanne Mixa Bettin
    In order to win a fantastic prize, you must turn in your Hydration Challenge tracking sheet at the end of the challenge. Two winners will be randomly selected to win a Hydroflask water bottle!  Please let us know if you have any questions. Happy Hydrating!
